Leads DigitalClone Platform Organization, Delivering 13% Cost Savings to Operators and Suppliers in Energy, Rail and Aerospace
January 24, 2018 - Buffalo, NY - Dr. Amine Chigani joins Sentient Science from GE Digital where he was the Chief Architect at GE Current leading the development of a big data platform and solutions for optimizing the global energy consumption in enterprise buildings and cities.
Dr. Chigani will lead the DigitalClone® Platform organization and grow the team by 50 people by Spring 2018. His team of software engineers, data scientists and materials scientists will rapidly expand the software's capabilities and build out new functionalities of the platform in less time and without the costly missteps seen by other platforms available to the market that use data science only in their applications.
“Sentient customers want to extend the life of their industrial assets to reduce costs up to 13%. From my experience, data science alone cannot solve the life extension requirement needed to reduce costs, but the use of materials science and data science does. I was attracted to Sentient because they’ve solved this unique combination of technologies for asset life extension. They have support from the operator community, and now need a platform team to scale globally and to create supply chain efficiencies and operation cost reduction,” Chigani said.
DigitalClone Platform connects equipment operators and suppliers through supply chain efficiencies, based on Sentient’s life extension application. Sentient Science has 22,000 wind turbine assets under contract globally, and is projecting 100,000 wind turbines by the end of 2018.
DigitalClone Platform combines materials science and data science to predict the life of major systems and critical components of large rotating equipment. Dr. Chigani will lead the scaling up of DigitalClone to serve a global network of equipment owners and manufacturer suppliers in the electrification and transportation industries.
He is the fourth former GE employee to join the Sentient Science team.

Before his role at GE Current, Chigani worked for the CTO offices of GE Transportation, GE Aviation, and GE Global Research building Predix-based Industrial Internet solutions for various GE businesses and their customers. He is also one of the founders of the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) and an original contributor to IIC Reference Architecture.
Chigani holds an M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Virginia Tech and a Software Architecture Professional Certificate from the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon. He received his B.S. degree in Computer Science from Radford University.
